UNITY AMONG THE BRETHREN

There has been much discussion about the division in this country and there is no better evidence of it than the NFL’s disgraceful kneeling at the National Anthem. Without rehashing everything that’s been said over the last few days I will just say it has divided us even more by race and politics.

However, I have a bigger concern and that is the division in the Body of Christ. Without unity among Christians how can there possibly be unity in the world? If the Church does not stand together and fight as one Body how can we overcome in the world? We can’t and we won’t.

Satan has been able to divide Christians since the beginning. Even Peter and Paul had their differences. However, they worked them out through prayer and seeking the Lord. Not today. There is way too much sniping among the brethren. I am not referring to churches who preach heresy or apostasy, but those who believe the tenets of the Bible though differ on certain things.

I truly believe if all Christians would come together as one as Jesus prayed in John 17:21 we would begin to see the world change. If we would stop the bickering about who has it right and who does not I believe we could accomplish much. The Lord would be pleased and would be able to work through us and among us to accomplish His will in the earth.

There are many Christians who believe we shouldn’t be involved in politics. Though I personally disagree with that stance I do think we need to take some time to judge ourselves. Is it not written in 1 Peter 4:17 “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?”

It really doesn’t matter if we don’t like what a church teaches because the solution is not to sit in the pew or watch on TV. Let the Lord deal with them if they’re errant in their preaching. Better to have the Lord deal with them than with us for our unloving attitude towards another member of His Body. What should matter to us is if we love them as the Lord loves us and as He has commanded.

One thing about this site which is so wonderful is though we attend different churches we love and accept one another. My question is how can we take this elsewhere and bring unity where it is so desperately needed? Also, if we don’t who will? May God grant us the grace and wherewithal to do so.

I ask everyone here to join with me in praying, not only for unity in the Body of Christ, but how we can, as individuals, and as a site bring people together under the Banner of our Savior and Lord. If we do this we will be living in Revival and enabling God to bring healing to our nation. The Church, so far, has been part of the problem. Let us begin to make it part and parcel of the solution. Amen.
