Yesterday, along with our son and daughter in law my husband and I took my two year old grandson to the Cape May Zoo. It was a rather large place with many animals and birds from all over the world. We saw a male and female lion play with each other, and an elderly Siberian tiger which because of arthritis in his hips wasn’t what he used to be. There were bison, zebras, giraffes and a camel. Then, there was an ostrich strutting around his habitat. I said to my husband “he’s just like a politician, strutting around and burying his head in the sand”.

Over the last months when I think about or watch politics on TV I get disgusted so now I watch little. It’s part of our world so I cannot totally ignore it but I also don’t have to let it annoy me either. For a long time it’s as if I was a glutton for punishment and knew every iota of the latest political news but now I don’t seem to care. There was a time I hoped things would change but now I know they will not because they cannot without Divine intervention.

Satan, as Scripture points out, is “the god of this world” and politics, or government affairs, is under his domain. Ever wonder why it’s such a mess? Now you know. Humanity, through the auspices of Satan, established the Seven Mountains of Society or, as some call them, the Seven Pillars. Government is one and politics is very much a part of the Government “mountain”.

As a Christian when we try to fight the government or the political realm we are really fighting the demonic powers which are in charge. If there’s one thing the world doesn’t want it is interference from God or from anyone who associates themselves with the Almighty. They’d have to look at themselves and, the truth be told, wouldn’t like what they see. Therefore, they have to get rid of us in whatever way they can.

You could say we are fighting a losing battle but in the Eternal Plan it is not us, but they, who are losing and will lose. Nobody who fights the Almighty ever wins. If the world were to kill all of us they’d still have to battle God. Think about it because if ever there was losing battle it is this one. Then again, it is in losing this battle we win eternal life. It is a shame they don’t understand this so I guess we’re just going to have to keep telling them until they come around.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”  John 3: 16
