For years our government has been trying to remove God from our midst. Or should I say the Left has been trying to replace God with government. Actually it is both. Now we are beginning to see what this nation looks like without God’s hand upon it and the results are devastating.
Who would have ever thought immorality would be legalized and morality condemned? Not me. That is until I realized we are watching Romans 1 play out in real time. The world is truly going to Hell in a hand basket. The slide seemed to be gradual at first but now it is on the fast track to perdition.
A world without God is a world without love for God is love. Without love fear reigns and chaos ensues. Without love people lose their humanity and resort to the survival of the fittest. Without love deceit and greed cause wars and destruction follows. A world without God, who is love, is corrupt because fallen man will seek his lowest common denominator. A world without God is what we are witnessing today and it is a sad state of affairs.
If, like me, you have wondered how far this can go before this nation is destroyed I have the answer. As far as we allow it. It is up to the Church to recognize it and stop it before we go over the cliff. It is the Body of Christ whom the Lord put in charge of the earth to see His will is done – and His Will is in His Word.
Last night at Mass the Gospel was John 3: 16 “For God so loved the world”. In this, God so loved mankind He was willing to give. However, He was not willing to become like the world and never will be. God, being God, knows who He is and is not. He is holy and perfect in every way and He is love. However, He loves mankind enough to let us choose for ourselves whether we accept or reject His love.
I wasn’t in the Garden of Eden and it’s not written how God “felt” when Adam and Eve sinned but I cannot imagine He was happy about it. Though He had to throw Adam and Eve out of the Garden He never stopped loving them. God was not going to lose his earthly family and already had a plan, not only to reconcile them to Himself, but to finish off Satan once and for all.
Our Heavenly Father so desired a relationship with us He was willing to sacrifice Jesus to get us. If that’s not love I don’t know what love is. l know I love God but I’ve recently asked myself what am I willing to give? In 1 Samuel 15: 22 it is written, “Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.” Okay, the Lord wants me to obey. That is pretty straightforward.
Jesus, however, expanded on this and in Matthew 24: 34 – 40 said: “But when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Now it becomes more difficult. I’m not going to bother to ask the question about who my neighbor is because Jesus well defined it in the parable of the Good Samaritan. However, I do and have asked the Lord how I accomplish this in today’s world.
Maybe, the world has always been full of hatred and anger but it seems to me it has been getting worse and worse. Maybe it is because Satan knows his time is short and so he is stirring the pot. Then again, maybe it’s because so many have pushed God aside and relegated Him to the back of the bus that Satan has been able to take over the steering wheel.
As written, the Lord put His Body in the earth to occupy until He comes but right now it looks as though I have been no more than a bystander. It seems I’ve been sitting on the bus and, though I’m not enjoying the ride, I’ve done little to remove the bus driver. This is going to change and with God’s grace I’m going to take the Sword and go on the offensive. It’s about time I did. How about you?
