What We can Expect When Truth is Relative

For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 2 Timothy 3:2-5

How many of us have heard people say things like “Truth is relative...”, “You can’t legislate morality…“, and “Life is not all black and white...”?

When one has a life threatening illness, one doesn’t simply try and treat the symptom. They try and heal the body while attacking the illness. Our country has a potentially terminal illness, yet too many people want to attack not only the symptom but mocking those who keep warning of the deadly disease.

America has had approximately 40 plus years of teaching that truth is relative, if it feels good do it and that kids need to be allowed to express themselves without corporal discipline. The latest generations have been taught by media and politicians that old people don’t matter, that life is not sacred and that babies are not human until they’re born. Society rules by emotion that a woman’s body is hers to do with what she wants due to women’s “reproductive health” rights, while the baby has no rights, and some groups even go so far as to say infants aren’t fully human until they are at least 5 years old and promote infanticide.

The liberal welfare system begun with the benign humanitarian sounding “War on Poverty” yet has demoralized generations and given them no incentive to work for anything because they’ve known nothing but the government nanny state. People who have been trapped in the system have no goals, no drive, no HOPE!

Common sense and decency of beliefs such as Thou Shalt Not Murder have been taken out of schools, God has been kicked out of public places and replaced with “tolerance”, humanism and moral relativism. Kids read books and see movies, hear music where the line between good and evil is blurred and the heroes are not always good and the villain sometimes is. The entertainment industry by large promotes every kind of hedonistic activity imaginable and gratuitous violence where the bigger the explosion is better- and music is not much different. Don’t even get started on video games…

We have made science our savior and salvation comes through whatever feels good.
We have a generation (or two) of parents who don’t know how to be parents, who seek after their own self gratification and leave their kids to fend for themselves. Families are whatever you want them to be, whether it’s single parent, multiple partners, same-sex, other-sex, or trans. We have kids whose parent(s) are in prison, jail or out of the picture and being raised by grandparents who had issues raising their own kids.

And then we wonder why our society is out of control.

Evil is real, and evil things happen. People make the choices to do good or evil- no matter what society says. Spending decades telling kids that truth is whatever they believe, that good and evil are whatever they decide is going to make a chaotic society.

To erradicate our nation’s disease, we must treat the body and heal it.
We need to start teaching children that all life is priceless. Teach them self-respect and respect for others, especially others who may be different from them and their friends. Teach them that they have God given gifts and talents, and they have much to share with the world. Teach them that life is sacred and the best way to live is to give more than what they can get.

We need to stop filling their minds with social experimentation, and get back to basics and teach them the difference between right and wrong, that there are consequences to every action.

What happened in Florida last week was horrible and downright evil, but our society has a lot to answer for as well. Whether it’s schools, churches, night clubs, concerts… People are tired of the symptom because it keeps happening. They say when is enough, enough?! What laws must we legislate to stop it??

It’s interesting that most folks say we can’t legislate morality, meaning create laws based on proven Biblical truths, yet after every brutally evil act such as what happened at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida that is exactly what they propose to do. Only it is their version of morality. That’s what happens when truth is relative- some legislation can’t be passed because it’s someone else’s version. But until people wake up and realize that truth is truth no for all time and all places, and that the issues which cause evil to happen go deeper, it will never stop because people bent on evil will always find a way to get around laws, and will always have the desires of the world they have been taught- and do whatever feels good and right to them.

We don’t need gun control, or any more social government programs and laws. We need to change hearts. Recognizing evil exists, that life is God created, turning to Him in repentance and allowing Him back into our lives is the only cure.

I know this isn’t the typically positive and encouraging message, but it’s what has been on my heart- and more importantly it’s truth.  While my main hope is to be an encouraging place for people, what my top priority is, is to share God’s truth, even when it hurts.   Just as salt hurts in an open wound, it also helps to heal and preserve…

I hope everyone has a safe and blessed day.
