SPOTLIGHT

American Duckie’s pic: Till I Found You by Phil Wickham

There are so many songs that I love listening to by all of the artists or groups that we have shone our HB spot lights on, that it is hard to narrow down any one particular song.

My mind goes over all my favorites which are favorites for various reasons.

When Daisy and I decided to do a spotlight on our favorite songs from the artist we featured the first song that popped into my head was one that we had featured only a couple of weeks ago.

The song Till I Found You by Phil Wickham isn’t the typical sound I’ll pick for a favorite but for every time I hear this song it brings back so many things over the years since that first time I cried out to Jesus for real and He saved me.

“I searched through the earth for something that could satisfy, a piece for the hurt I had buried deep inside, knees on the floor I finally found everything I needed, he lifted my soul and opened up my eyes…”

Kind of like the discussion yesterday on Heather’s Jonah comment, there are times when we just had to throw up our hands and say “help me Lord!” And often times when we’re at our worst, when we realize that Jesus takes us just as we are, and we finally realize He is everything we need. And the love that He has for us and our relationship with Him lasts forever.

He gave me a name and He changed everything !

Daisy’s pick: Different by Micah Tyler

In the introduction to Michah’s song he explains some difficult things he and his family are going through and how during these times, he asks God to change their circumstances.  “The prayer that I kept saying was, Jesus, can you just change these things? Can you stop the cancer? Can you stop the storms?  But he’s chosen not to stop these things just yet.  And I’m finding out that sometimes the best question is not, Jesus can you change these things around me but instead God, can you change me so I can handle the things that you’re walking me through?”

I think the first part of his prayer is a natural reaction for most us, “take it away, make it all better, please Lord!” I’m very familiar with that kind of prayer in my relationship with the Lord.  The second part of his prayer is a step of faith, a chosen response, which is so much harder in the midst of the storms we go through in life.

The message in Micah’s introduction and song speaks my heart song, its something that’s hard for me to do, but something I strive for because seeing it in others has made a difference in my life.  Living in the storms,  “so I keep singing and praying and believing”   is a choice that is a more difficult when we are fearful and hurting, it’s a choice that makes us different then the world, set apart, “I wanna be different, I wanna be changed, till all of me is gone, until all that remains is, a fire so bright, the whole world can see theres something different, come and be different in me”.

There are many ways to be different in this world but this song reminds me of the kind of different I want to be.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Romans 12:2
