Oceans of Blessings

I want to emphasize that the blessings described here are only part of the incredible miracle that is America. I haven’t forgotten other important areas. It’s just that I’ve run out of space.

“God bless America!” so many people say. Has He? Let’s do some thought-processing about that …

The US is listed as # 7 among nations for most natural resources.

The Human Freedom Index: “The Human Freedom Index presents the state of human freedom in the world based on a broad measure that encompasses personal, civil, and economic freedom … uses 79 distinct indicators of personal and economic freedom … covers 162 countries for 2016, the most recent year for which sufficient data are available … On a scale of 0 to 10, where 10 represents more freedom, the average human freedom rating for 162 countries in 2016 was 6.89 … ”

While the average rating for all 162 countries was 6.89, the average for the US between 2008 and 2015 varied from 8.20 to 8.45. Not bad at all, when you consider what was happening during those years. For example – talk about a blessing – on November 8th, 2016, I went to bed fully expecting Hillary Clinton to be president of the United States when I woke up. I think now as I did then, that would have been the worst thing to ever have happened to America. Instead, look what we got. Against my expectations, Trump has strengthened America greatly in some ways, and chosen some very wise foreign policies.

Economy: “Economic Growth Has Reached 3 Percent for the First Time in More than a Decade Thanks to President Donald J. Trump’s Policies … The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) has announced that GDP grew by 3.1 percent from the fourth quarter of 2017 to the fourth quarter of 2018 … This marked the fastest fourth quarter to fourth quarter growth since 2005 … 2018 was the second year in a row that the economy exceeded market expectations … So far, more than 5.3 million jobs have been created since President Trump’s election … The unemployment rate has remained at or below 4 percent for the past 11 months … September 2018 and November 2018 saw unemployment rates of 3.7 percent – the lowest rate in nearly 50 years.

The trend continues: 164,000 jobs added in July 2019 Mining lost 5,000 jobs in the same period. Guess why: “excess supply” from US shale oil has caused oil prices to drop. “U.S. manufacturing gained 16,000 jobs despite a strong dollar and Trump’s trade war. A strong dollar hurts exports. Countries in a trade war impose tariffs and international trade declines. Durable goods gained 12,000 jobs. Auto manufacturing gained 7,200 jobs. Construction gained 4,000 jobs.

Per wiki, Census Bureau declared 2017 median income in the US to be $61, 372. Per wiki, only Luxembourg, Switzerland, and Iceland exceed that. And they have not been supporting nations around the world militarily. They couldn’t. One Mideast war would have wiped out all their resources, ruined their economies. So much of this nation’s treasure – and the lives of our military – have been spent trying to make the world a better, safer place for people of other nations. No nation on earth since the world began has given as much foreign aid and disaster aid to other nations as America has.

Per wikipedia, only four nations have more vehicles per capita than the US: San Marino, Monaco , New Zealand, and Iceland. All four together have a total of roughly about 697 thousand cars. You read that right.

There are roughly about 264 million cars, trucks, vans, etc., in the US.

GM, Dodge, Chevrolet, Ford, Chrysler, BMW, Honda, Hyundai, Kia Motors, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota, Volkswagen, Volvo, Mini Cooper. Pickups, sedans, vans, coupes, all in several sizes. Commercial vehicles. Did I leave anyone out? Oh, yes, motorcycles: Harley Davidson, Indian, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Honda, BMW, Moto Guzzi, Suzuki, Husqvarna, Norton, Triumph, BSA, Ducati … the newsboy whose route I took over when I was nine years old had the loudest Ducati in the world, LOL! His customers always knew when their morning paper arrived!

And a whole bunch of motocross bikes and moped-type scooters. And “three-wheelers”. And dune buggies.

Did you know there’s actually a Spanish-made motorcycle brand named “Gas Gas”? 😀

President Trump did a good, noble, and beneficial thing by recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and moving US embassy there without delay.  So we do not, at this time, have to fear God’s curse on those who curse Israel.

Anti-globalism, which encourages and strengthens “freedom activists” everywhere.

Now let’s talk, and talk, and talk some more about a blessing we all enjoy frequently: FOOD! I did a quick survey of the grocery store closest to my residence. It took me about half an hour. Good golly Miss Molly!

Can I stop now? Ask Venezuelans if God has blessed this country. Or Russians. Chinese. Argentinians. Iranians. Ask almost anyone of “middle income” (for their countries) in the Mideast, other than Israelis.

God HAS blessed America, for more than 200 years. That’s the good news.
