Folds of Honor fundraiser at Hillandale Golf Course

Hillandale Golf Course, 1600 Hillandale Rd, Durham, NC 27705, has put on a Folds of Honor Golf Marathon to raise funds for Folds of Honor since 2010. Karl Kimball is the Director of Golf there. He plays a 24-hour marathon each year for donations per hole he plays.

Jersey Mike’s donated subs, chips, and drinks for all. There are seventy-four golf clubs in North Carolina which participate in Folds of Honor fundraisers. Hillandale Golf Course alone has raised over $100,000 in the past for Folds of Honor. All the golf clubs together have raised over one million dollars for Folds of Honor since the partnership began in 2010.

This and other community-involved activities described briefly here:
Community-Hillendale Golf Course
One hundred yards of hand-painted names of fallen North Carolina service members who gave their lives in the line of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq, at the 18th hole fairway:A local ROTC cadre raises the flag, flanked by an Honor Guard of Vietnam veterans from the Submarine Force. The close-up beneath is hidden behind the cadre in the upper photo:
The speaker in the photo below is former Lieutenant Wesley Baugess, the widow of Army Major Baugess, killed in Afghanistan by an insider shooting. Their two daughters have each received a $5,000 educational grant from Folds of Honor. Wesley Baugess spoke briefly about how she and her husband-to-be met in the mud of the low crawl on an ROTC course! She spoke about her husband’s outspoken faith in Christ and his dedication to his men. Major Baugess was an Airborne Ranger with the 82nd Airborne.
Permanent Veterans’ Parking. Golf Champions and military Champions side by side:
The honor guard up close. I gave them my phone number and asked for interviews for a future article. What you can read of their service patches is fascinating!
If you are a golfer and visiting the Durham area, I’ll be honored to drive you to this range. These are people who do truly love America and appreciate deeply the cost of our freedom!

God bless you, Karl Kimball, Golf Director, and all who helped make this event a success!
