We’re going to do something different today for our Spotlight.
This week, you guys are going to shine the spotlight on songs by the group Tenth Avenue North that you find.
I know we’ve featured this band here before, and I really like them a lot. Their music is real, and yet Christ centered. I’ve posted some of my favorites before on the HB, but this time I’d love to see folks do a little ‘porch work’. Find and listen to some of their songs, and post them here along with a description of what you like or what speaks to you in the lyrics.
I’ll start with an example…
This has been one of my many favorites by Tenth Avenue North, and yes I’ve posted it quite a few times over the past 5 years or so. The song resonates with so much of what’s gone on and still going on in my life- being turned upside down and inside out. It really is a ‘great unknown’ to me.
I don’t want to live in fear
I want to trust that You are near
Trust Your grace can be seen
In both triumph and tragedy…
Sometimes it’s easy after a while to see how God works in our lives through the hardest things, but when things settle down- dare we believe that our lives may become triumphant… or even just peaceful and good, it’s harder to see if and how God will work. Sometimes it doesn’t seem like He’s there anymore. As if He’s said, “OK child, I helped and carried you through all of that- now it’s time to stand on your own…”
Trusting that He’s near when,
But sometimes my faith feels thin
Like the night will never end
Will You catch every tear
Or will You just leave me here?
I really do hold onto the hope of all His promises, all of His proven closeness and that He will make something out of every tear, every fear, tragedy and yes, even peace and goodness.
This song will always remind me of the valley He’s carried me through, the valleys He’s walked beside me through and the valley that He lights the way as He marks my path through.
OK now it’s y’alls turns.
Have a blessed Sunday all!
