The US Military and COV19

In all our posts here about the corona virus, we haven’t mentioned anything about how the military is being affected by it.

“The U.S. Military Has Joined the War Against the Coronavirus But Its Firepower is Limited … the limiting factor is equipment and personnel, which is badly needed across the country. ‘So, even if we are able to build tents for hospitals, we still need the doctors, we need the nurses,’ Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Rath Hoffman said Monday. ‘We need the orderlies. We need the equipment and all that in there.’ “

Military medical personnel, when not on active duty, are often working at civilian hospitals here in the US. Commanders are hesitant to pull them out of those hospitals, because the military is equipped to deal with injuries, not with respiratory diseases or infectious diseases that need to be quarantined. Civilian hospitals are better equipped for that.

Besides which,  “The Pentagon handed down sweeping travel restrictions for service members, their families and civilian employees as a means to stop the spread of COVID-19, the coronavirus that has caused upheaval in recent weeks.” It would be extremely unwise to put our military at risk of catching an infectious, deadly disease. This applies to overseas military too, of course. All travel to or from South Korea for those affected is being halted by the order at least until May 6.

A concern has been voiced – by a Democrat Senator – that the military is not being tested for corona virus and has no access to testing. This was reported in Military Times and in Roll Call, but “Pentagon officials on Monday pushed back on reports that troops based in Afghanistan did not have access to coronavirus testing … they explained tests were readily available but tests must be shipped to the nearest military lab in Germany … Friedrichs said that of 37 confirmed coronavirus cases in the military — including 18 service members, 13 dependents, three civilians and three contractors — there have been no positive tests in Iraq and Afghanistan … the military has done 495 such tests as of Sunday morning.” (That would have been March 15th.)

I dug into this issue fairly well, and it appears to be just a Democrat trying to find some fault that can by some wild stretch of a twisted imagination be blamed on President Trump. Because the primary goal of the Democrat Party and their propaganda wing, the “news media”, is to defeat President Trump in 2020. Even in the midst of a global pandemic.

The military’s precautions seem to be working very well. Note the date of this announcement: ” The nation’s largest shipyard continues to await results on coronavirus tests administered to 14 military and civilian personnel … So far, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility has yet to record a positive case …”

There does seem to be a severe backlog of military personnel and families trying to get a response from the military nurse advice line. Not a surprise – other illnesses, even common allergies, have symptoms that mimic COV19.  “Military treatment facilities are currently only testing individuals who have symptoms of the illness … Besides calling the Nurse Advice Line, 1-800-874-2273, Option 1 in the U.S., patients can call their military hospital, primary care team or civilian provider, or their appointment lines, or reach out through direct chat or video chat by going online to the MHS Nurse Advice Line website.”

Military families are having other problems, one of which is scary: possible criminals being assigned to take care of their children:  Military leaders on Tuesday confirmed to Navy Times that a list of reforms to the sea service’s childcare programs have been instituted … new measures waive the need for criminal background checks for supplemental staffing employees the supplemental staff will be ‘always in line of sight supervision of blue smock CYP employees and not in ratio’…” There are other measures that will have many parents tearing their hair. Details at that link.

There is some partial conditional relief available for military personnel:  “… military families grapple with thousands of difficult situations that the coronavirus has brought to their lives … Depending on the situation, the relief societies — Army Emergency Relief, Air Force Aid Society, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society [and Coast Guard Mutual Assistance]— can offer help in the form of grants or zero-interest loans.

There is concern by some that we are being set up for martial law, given that “All 50 of the nation’s Governors have declared emergencies in their states and now many are starting to activate their Air and Army National Guard to help deal with the growing coronavirus pandemic.  The situation does seem to be ideal for creating a military dictatorship without triggering revolt – “We’re from the government and we’re here to help you.” [Sure you are.] California Gov. Gavin Newsom said Sunday, “… we have the capacity to do that, but we are not feeling at this moment that is a necessity.” Great. So reassuring. I’m certain California would handle martial law as brilliantly as they have handled the homeless crisis, for example.

And the usual conspiracy theory has emerged.  When mass murders began to become common 7 or 8 years ago, I investigated about half a dozen of them online, and I became completely convinced that all or almost all of the mass murders of that time were in fact government false flag operations designed to gain popular support for gun confiscation. I would not be surprised if COV19 is the result of such a conspiracy, or at least has been eagerly seized upon by global conspirators. I’m not going to investigate this time. In my opinion, only the presence of the Holy Spirit in Christians is holding back global conspirators and the antiChrist from succeeding. Hopefully, the Rapture will occur soon and none of these things will be our problems any longer. Until then, I hope and pray that a large part of the freedoms and prosperity we have been blessed with in America will continue. If not, at least we know that Heaven waits and those who have remained faithful to the God of the Bible will have a new life there, without evil, pain, suffering, or death. In the meantime, we will continue to lift up our military in prayer to God asking that they also be spared from this disease.
