Heartbits This Silent Saturday

Today is the day I consider silent, because it was this time between the burial of Jesus and the morning of His Resurrection.  It was a time of silence for a world without hope, and a time of fear and grief for many of those who followed Jesus of Nazareth before He was crucified.

Daisy and I had a thought to repost something we posted a couple of years ago, with a bit of a twist as we wait for Resurrection day.  A reminder of Who Jesus is, but also a reminder of who we are in Him.

Who is Jesus, and how can we know Him?

Speaking of silence, if you’re a believer in God, then there is not a time when you didn’t wonder why He is silent. You wonder if He’s mad at you, or punishing you for something, or just not hearing or talking to you. I know I’ve been there many times over the past 20 years or so since I was saved.

Then there are times when I am overwhelmed by what He has done for me- not just saving my soul, but my life, and then add all the blessings He’s bestowed on top of all of that, and I just can’t help but wonder, who am I that I have the blessings of the Lord?

I am nothing. Before His salvation, I was a wretched, filthy obnoxious little sinner- and even still with my being washed in His blood, cleansed of all of that, I am still nothing without Him.

But who am I- in Christ?  Who are you?

If you have confessed with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believed in your heart that He rose from the dead to overcome sin and death, you have believed the core doctrine of the Christian faith. No matter what church denomination, you are in the Body of Christ.

And in Christ, you are:

Forgiven- All, every last sin, has been paid for, in full.  Ephesians 1:7
God’s child- born again with the incorruptible seed of the Word which lives forever 1 Peter 1:23
A new creation- 2 Corinthians 5:17
Accepted in Christ- Ephesians 1:6
Holy and without blame before Him-Ephesians 1:4
A Saint-  Romans 1:7
An Heir- Colossians 1:12
Victorious- Revelation 21:7
Set Free- John 8:31-33
Crucified with Christ- Galatians 2:20
Alive in Christ- Ephesians 2:5
Raised up and seated in Heavenly places- Colossians 2:12
Faithful Follower- Ephesians 5:1
Loved with an everlasting, never ending Love- Jeremiah 31:3
The Light of the world and Salt of the earth- Matthew 5:13,14
Called of God- 2 Timothy 1:9
More than a conqueror- Romans 8:37
Beloved of God- 1 Thessalonians 1:4
Reconciled to God- 2 Corinthians 5:18
Chosen- 1 Thessalonians 1:4
God’s Workmanship, Created in Christ Jesus for good works- Ephesians 2:10
One in Christ-John 17:21-23
Have the Peace of Christ, which passes all understanding- Philippians 4:13
Can do all things through Christ- Philippians 4:13
Possess He Who is greater, in you, than he who is in the world- 1 John 4:4
Know God’s voice- John 10:14
Triumphant in Christ- 2 Corinthians 2:14
Have access to our Father who is on His throne in Heaven- Ephesians 2:18

There is so much that comes with being a born again follower of Christ, a child of God, that it’s overwhelming to think about sometimes. And even though God forgives and forgets- the enemy has a way of constantly reminding and dredging up past things that we ourselves can’t forget. At those times, when you wonder, Who am I, that Christ should die for me? Remember just Who you Are in Christ.

This is an open porch Saturday, but we’d love to hear songs that come to folks minds when you consider who you are in Jesus.

I’ll start off with one of mine,

And, as it is the Silent Saturday, I’m going to re post this movie too for anyone who feels like watching something soooo good today.

Have a beautiful and blessed Saturday all.
