Saturday’s Porch

My mind wanders a lot.  I’m sure y’all are surprised at that fact 😀

Seriously though, especially when I’m driving to and from work, although I always keep traffic and the road in focus, my mind wanders often, especially when I’m listening to songs.

Last night on my way home, maybe because I was so tired, it really kicked my mind into overdrive. I was listening the song God So Loved by We the Kingdom.  I’ve only heard it maybe once or twice before, but the beginning verses made me think about buffets lol.

Stick with me here please.  So many people pick and choose what they like out of the Bible as if it were a cosmic buffet, passing over things you don’t like, while taking heaping servings of those things you do like.  Ignoring some, contemplating, but then giving up something else, all the while getting full on fillers and things that satisfy the immediate.

Don’t get me wrong, I love food and I love fillers and not so good stuff.  Michael and I used to go to this place whenever we went out to Pine Island to go fishing (on our way back- fish smell and all).  We and AB loved it. It was an all you can eat place, and if anyone has ever spent a warm, sunny day out on the water fishin for a few hours, you know that works up an appetite.

So back to my mind’s conversation last evening, and songs…

Come all you weary, come all you thirsty
Come to the well that never runs dry
Drink of the Water, come and thirst no more

Well, come all you sinners, come find His mercy
Come to the table, He will satisfy
Taste of His goodness, find what you’re looking for

We need to approach the Lord’s ‘table’ as a buffet, because there is so much to choose from- and all of it good, satisfying, healthy and helps us to grow to be more like Him. What we choose from, He gives us, so that we can give it to others.  As I caught that 2nd verse, I thought, Yes please Lord…

I’ll have a serving of Grace,  so I can show it.  I need an extra helping of that Forgiveness, and I may come back for seconds. Patience… hmm, I could stand to have some of that too. Ohh, and please may I have Mercy with some of that Kindness sauce please!

At the Lord’s table, we can get filled up, but never leaving feeling too full to as for a carry out bag!  And don’t forget the desserts too. Provisions, giving, blessings, thoughtfulness and generosity.

There are plenty of beverage choices too… courage, strength, love, peace and best of all, hope.  All made of flavors of His Living Water.

Maybe because I was hungry and after a long day at work, I was ready to sit, relax and have dinner.  Or maybe because I’m hungry for what God serves, so I can serve it to others.  Whatever the reason, I don’t mind when my mind wanders like that. It’s interesting to see what comes lol.

And, when I’m at work and our theme song comes on, this is the version I usually hear…

Speaking of listening to music at work, so much I hear reminds me of y’all- my brothers and sisters, friends and family- even the extended ones who are still a part but have moved on…

But I heard this one the other day and it reminded me of Heather 🙂

I don’t have much to share today, but it’s Saturday- and a wide open porch. I hope folks find time to drop by,hang out and see what folks are up to today. Whatever you’re doing, I hope it’s a beautiful and blessed day!
