In that day you will say: “I will praise you, Lord. Although you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you have comforted me. Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.”
With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.
In that day you will say: “Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted. Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world. Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you.”
In that day. Some day… I know I’m not the only one who looks so forward to that day! People have been looking forward to that day for thousands of years. It’s the same hope and faith in that day that drove Abraham to hear the voice of God, leave his home to wander. It’s the same hope and faith that David had throughout his time from running away from Saul, to running towards the Lord with a broken and repentant heart. And it’s the same hope and faith that found the disciples looking up into the sky after Jesus had departed from this earth- who waited and expected His imminent return.
In that day. Some day. The same hope that has filled the Jews as they were loaded into cattle cars and taken to places with ominous names like Auschwitz, the same hope and faith of the underground churches in countries like China, Iran and North Korea.
In that day when we finally see our Savior, Messiah, King of Kings and Lord of Lords and proclaim His Holy and Mighty Name. People have been waiting for that for so long, and yet there are still so many who don’t believe, and mock those of us who do. Somehow pointing out the obvious that people have been waiting His return since the hour He left.
But as we see in chapters and verses like this one, in Isaiah, and previously in Daniel, and the Gospels, that God’s Word is True. Prophecies which have come to pass concerning Jesus’s first coming were fulfilled with astronomically seeming impossible accuracy, we can be sure that those concerning His second coming will be fulfilled in the same incredible ways.
So much has been coming reality- the Bible coming to life before our eyes. I don’t know how much longer. Some days it feels imminent, yet on other days I still believe He will still tarry awhile because of His patience and love… waiting for that last sinner to come home.
It doesn’t really matter when He comes back, because we know without a doubt that He will come back, and in that day we will shout aloud and sing with joy! And I can’t wait!
Have a blessed and beautiful day all!
