Romans 5:8 reminds us, But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
So much of what I keep learning about God just blows my mind. The more I read the Bible, the more I see that He is constantly at work in the lives and affairs of fallen men. To think of the imperfect, and sinful people of the past to do incredible things in the world shows just demonstrates verses like Romans 5:8.
Think about it. From the time after Noah and his family left the ark, it wasn’t long before people got back into their old habits of doing whatever was right in their own eyes, following after idols and making themselves their own gods. Would people ever learn? Then God sees a man who lives in a city full of idols. His own dad was an idol maker- and yet, Abram had a faith in a bigger God who was formed by no man. We know that Abram became Abraham, and God blessed the world through him- by the God of all creation being taught to the world through scripture and by the earthly line of the Lord Jesus, the Savior of all.
God used the very human, very imperfect people shown to us throughout the scriptures to let the world know Him, and be saved by Him. Thousands of years of imperfect sinners, to save people still now. You, me, and anyone who calls upon His Name in faith and trust.
Because of a prostitute, the line of ancestors continued, and generations later, Jesus was born. Because of an adulterer and murderer, Jesus was born into the Royal lineage to be King of Kings. Because of cowards, prostitutes, thieves and arrogant sinners, the Lord’s church was established and grown, the gospel spread and the world given the Hope of reconciliation with the God who demonstrated and still shows just how much He loves us.
I don’t have eloquent words to describe the Lord. Sometimes I wish I did, but my heart bursts and my mind is blown every time I consider things concerning His love demonstrated. When I consider His creativity, His imagination, Holiness, perfect justice, righteousness, goodness. So huge we can’t comprehend or know all of Him, yet personal enough we can call Him daddy.
What an awesome, incredible, and yes, mind blowing God He is!
Looking forward to ‘church’ with y’all!
Have a beautiful and blessed Sunday all!
